The 22nd FAI World Rally Flying Championships 2022 will be hosted at Brits Airfield in the North West.
The event has been moved from Stellenbosch to Brits with 35 teams already entered from 13 countries across Southern Africa, Europe and even as far as Chile.
The Championship takes place from 12 to the 19 November, with Monday to Thursday being official competition days. Friday is reserved for prize-giving and the closing ceremony and Saturday as departure day.

Following the SA National Rally Championships in June this year, nine teams were selected to represent South Africa. Nigel Hopkins will again team up with Mary de Klerk, while other teams are Alewyn Burger and Steve v/d Merwe, Hendrik and Janre Loots, Jonty Essar and Sandi Goddard, Hans Schwebel and Ron Stirk, Apie and Frederick Kotzee, Tarryn and Iaan Myburgh, Anthony and Pamela Russell, and lastly, Marko Nel and Leon Bouttell.
The South African Teams were hard at work with their first official training camp held on the weekend of 13-14 August at Brits. Insightful training sessions by Ron Stirk, Mary de Klerk and Adrian Pilling included cockpit management, photo recognition, and spot landing techniques.
Additional team training will be a series of two-day sessions held at Brits combining theory and practice over the weekends of:

· 22 October
· 05 November

The Rally Flying will take place over a vast area of magnificent mountainous and flat terrain covering Brits Airfield area, which has been the venue for many flying competitions including Rally Flying and the World Precision Flying Championships in 2011.
Competition Director is Rob Jonkers, International Chief Judge nominated is Ralf Grunwald from Germany, and scoring manager is Frank Eckard.
