It was billed as “an airshow with a difference” and it certainly lived up to all expectations. The Wonderboom Airshow brought out the best in South African aerobatics and display flying.

The regulars on the airshow circuit turned up for the last event of the season and were supplemented by a few unique displays seldom seen at airshows around the country.
Highlights included two displays by a three-ship Puma Fling Lions line-up, and four-ship displays from the Raptors and the Goodyear Eagles, which featured South Africa’s only woman aerobatic pilot with the Eagles, Sally Fleck.
Firsts were a tandem display by Juba Joubert in an Alouette 3 and Andre van Zyl in his Magni Gyro, a formation with Reyno Coetzer and Mike George’s Navions and Dion Raath in a Harvard, the Paramount Mwari flown by test pilot Mark Berg and two thundering displays from South Africa’s pinnacle fighter jet the SAAB Gripen flown by Lt Col Eddie “Sypher” Seeco which was a definite crowd favourite.
The Airshow was held in partnership with the City of Tshwane, CMH Group, Cirrus Aircraft South Africa, Altitude Wealth, Leonardo Helicopters, and Hot 102.7.
