Unofficial record set at an average speed of 505.3 mph, breaking a 13-year-old mark by 48%

SyberJet Aircraft’s SJ30-2 has set an unofficial East-to-West transcontinental speed record in the C-1.f aircraft class, completing a nonstop flight from Jacksonville, Florida to San Diego, California in approximately four hours and seven minutes.

The record-setting flight, which took place on 21 August 2026, saw the SJ30-2 achieve an average speed of 505.3 mph. The flight was piloted by Gordon “Gordy” Bryan, with SyberJet Aircraft CEO Trevor Milton aboard.

The achievement significantly surpassed the previous record of 339.4 mph, established by an Embraer Phenom 300 in 2013. According to SyberJet, the new flight represents an improvement of approximately 48% over the previous mark.

The aircraft used for the flight was SJ30-2 registration N378PG.

“The results are fantastic,” said Trevor Milton, CEO of SyberJet Aircraft. “I want to thank Gordy, the mechanics, the employees and all the supporters that watched the journey.”

Milton added that the achievement represents an important milestone for the company and its SJ30 programme.

Record Still Pending Certification

While the flight has established an unofficial record, it will still need to undergo the formal certification process before it becomes an officially recognised aviation record.

SyberJet expects certification from the National Aeronautic Association (NAA) and the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) to take approximately 90 days.

The certification process will verify the flight and its performance against the applicable requirements for the C-1.f aircraft class.

Platform for the SJ36

The SJ30-2 is SyberJet’s FAA-certified light business jet and forms the foundation for the company’s next-generation aircraft, the SJ36.

The company says the SJ30 platform provides a proven and certified airframe lineage for the development of its next-generation aircraft, with the SJ36 incorporating new performance and technology capabilities.

The SJ36 is expected to receive significant attention from the business aviation industry as SyberJet continues to develop its next-generation light jet offering.

SJ30-2 to Appear at NBAA-BACE 2026

The record-setting SJ30-2 will be displayed at NBAA-BACE 2026, with the aircraft scheduled to appear at the Aircraft Connection at Henderson Executive Airport in Las Vegas.

SyberJet will also use the event to debut the new SJ36 at SyberJet World, which is being held in conjunction with NBAA-BACE.

The record flight provides SyberJet with a significant showcase for the capabilities of the SJ30-2 while highlighting the company’s ambitions for high-performance light business jets.

If officially certified, the achievement will add another milestone to the SJ30’s performance history and further strengthen SyberJet’s position in the light business jet market.
