The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) hosted the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) Stakeholder Roundtable at its Centurion headquarters. The event, held during the beginning of September 2025, brought together key representatives from government, aviation authorities, and industry partners to discuss and promote the development of a sustainable aviation fuel ecosystem in South Africa.
The roundtable provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange insights, explore collaborative opportunities, and identify strategies for scaling the production, distribution, and adoption of SAF in the country. The discussions form part of a broader global initiative by IATA to reduce aviation’s environmental footprint and support the industry’s transition towards more sustainable operations.
By hosting this event, SACAA reaffirmed its commitment to fostering partnerships between the public and private sectors, supporting innovation, and enabling South Africa’s aviation industry to align with international sustainability goals.
The SAF Stakeholder Roundtable represents a key step in ensuring that South Africa remains at the forefront of sustainable aviation development in the region.
