The Indonesian Ministry of Defence has selected the Pilatus PC-24 to support Indonesian Air Force requirements across transport pilot training, air transport and liaison missions. A contract for twelve aircraft has been signed with PT E-System Solutions Indonesia, the Ministry’s authorised defence contractor.
The agreement also includes an option for additional aircraft along with ground support equipment, tools, spare parts, training and technical support from Pilatus Aircraft headquarters in Stans, Switzerland.
Designed for exceptional operational flexibility, the PC-24 is certified for single-pilot operations and is equipped with a standard cargo door. Its ability to operate from unpaved runways sets it apart in its class, making it ideally suited for a wide range of government missions. These include instrument flight rules pilot training, transport and liaison roles, particularly in challenging environments.
Pilatus will deliver its integrated support programme to ensure maximum fleet availability and efficient maintenance, reinforcing long-term operational readiness for the Indonesian Air Force.

The selection marks a significant step in strengthening Pilatus’ presence in Southeast Asia. The aircraft’s versatility was a key factor in the decision, especially its ability to take off and land on short airfields and operate from unpaved surfaces. This capability is particularly valuable in Indonesia, an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands, where access to remote regions is critical.
Markus Bucher, CEO of Pilatus, welcomed the agreement, stating: “We appreciate the trust placed in Pilatus by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense. This programme marks the beginning of a long-term relationship and our priority is to support Indonesia in putting the fleet into service smoothly.”
Ioannis Papachristofilou, Vice President of Government Aviation at Pilatus, added: “The selection by the Indonesian Air Force emphasises the growing interest of government operators in our PC-24 Super Versatile Jet. We remain focused on supplying solutions to facilitate various missions ranging from training to transport.”
In parallel with the PC-24 acquisition, a Letter of Intent has been signed for the supply of 24 Pilatus PC-21 trainer aircraft. This package includes ground-based training equipment, spare parts, ground support equipment and technical support, further enhancing Indonesia’s pilot training capabilities.
Together, these acquisitions highlight Indonesia’s commitment to modernising its air capabilities while investing in flexible, mission-ready platforms capable of operating across diverse and demanding environments.
