Among the most talked-about entries was FlySafair, who went all in to build a flying machine designed to eclipse the competition. With management’s directive to “spare no costs!”, the team crafted a sleek, well-built aircraft that looked capable of going the distance.

However, despite the engineering effort and a virtually uncapped budget, disaster struck during the launch. The FlySafair machine rolled a mere three feet before succumbing to what aviation enthusiasts politely call a rapid unscheduled disassembly. Thankfully, the pilot emerged unscathed — and with dry feet.

Meanwhile, the winners, Team Thunderstruck, managed a smooth, controlled flight that impressed the crowd and earned them the top spot. Their performance was a perfect blend of precision, creativity, and a touch of daring.

The day’s highlights didn’t stop there. Aviation fans were treated to a thrilling display by Patrick Davidson in his Red Bull–sponsored Gamebird, followed by a striking flypast by a FlySafair Boeing 737-800, adding a professional aviation touch to the fun-filled event.
