As global aviation continues to evolve, the demand for airline-ready pilots remains a key challenge for the industry. Diamond Aircraft Industries recently hosted a one-day Flight Training Organisation (FTO) Summit in Wiener Neustadt, bringing together airlines, fleet operators and training organisations to discuss the future of pilot training.
Representatives from major carriers including Emirates, airBaltic, KLM, Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines took part in discussions focused on pilot demand, training capacity and evolving airline requirements.
A key theme was the balance between aircraft-based and simulator-based training within MPL and ATPL pathways. While advanced simulators continue to improve efficiency and realism, participants agreed that real-world flying remains essential for developing core skills.
Technology and integration were also highlighted as critical to future training models, with modern aircraft platforms and data-driven systems helping to better align training with airline operations.
“The FTO Summit confirmed a strong level of strategic alignment across the industry,” said Jane Wang. “The focus now is on effective execution to ensure long-term impact and sustainable growth.”
The summit reinforced Diamond Aircraft’s role as a strategic partner in airline-focused training and highlighted the importance of collaboration in meeting the future needs of global aviation.
