Robinson Helicopter Company is set to deliver its 5,000th R44 Raven II, celebrating a historic milestone for one of the world’s most ubiquitous light civil rotorcraft. Celebrated across the aviation industry for its minimalist design, low direct operating costs and reliable operational profile, the four-seat light helicopter remains a primary choice for flight instruction, agricultural work, electronic news gathering, aerial tours and private transport worldwide.

First certified by aviation authorities in 1990 with initial deliveries commencing in 1993, the R44 platform has expanded across global markets with active operators spanning more than 100 countries. The broader R44 family includes the Raven I, Clipper I, the specialized Cadet training platform, the Raven II and its amphibious counterpart, the Clipper II. To support utility operators working in demanding environments, Robinson recently introduced a ruggedized Utility Interior option across all R44 variants, featuring easy-to-clean seat fabrics and heavy-duty materials replacing conventional carpets and headliners.

The delivery comes as the vertically integrated U.S. manufacturer expands its broader rotorcraft portfolio. Alongside its core R22, R44 and R66 production lines, Robinson is advancing its 10-seat R88 utility turbine helicopter—powered by the Safran Arriel 2W engine—and developing autonomous capabilities via its dedicated Robinson Unmanned business unit.
