Fastjet Zimbabwe has officially introduced a 168-seat Airbus A320-200 into its flying programme, welcoming the narrowbody aircraft during a ceremonial reception at Victoria Falls International Airport.

The additional aircraft has been deployed to support high passenger demand during the peak travel months of August and September 2026 across key regional trunk routes connecting Johannesburg with both Victoria Falls and Harare.

Throughout the peak operational period, Fastjet is introducing a enhanced “Business Premium” product aboard the A320. The service features extra-wide seating at the front of the cabin, curated menu options, full bar service at designated times, access to business-class lounges and an expanded baggage allowance of 46 kg.

Speaking at the reception, Fastjet Zimbabwe Board Chairman Farai Mutamangira highlighted the growth of the nation’s aviation sector, noting that the carrier has spent a decade stimulating air travel demand and strengthening regional connectivity.

Government officials commended the strategic capacity expansion. Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon. Tongai Mnangagwa stated that introducing the A320 strengthens national airlift capacity, enhances accessibility to key tourist destinations and reinforces Zimbabwe’s position as an emerging African tourism hub.

In remarks read on his behalf, Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Hon. Felix Mhona urged the airline to explore establishing the Airbus A320 as a permanent fixture in its operational fleet, confirming ministry support for long-term fleet growth initiatives.

Operating since 2015, Fastjet Zimbabwe maintains IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registration and connects domestic destinations including Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls alongside international routes to Johannesburg and Kruger Mbombela.
