Aviation enthusiasts and families alike are in for a treat as the highly anticipated Lowveld Airshow takes to the skies on 1 and 2 May 2026, promising a full day of high-energy aerial displays, ground attractions and family-friendly entertainment.

Hosted in the heart of Lowveld, the event has grown into one of the region’s most popular aviation gatherings, drawing spectators from across Mpumalanga and beyond. With a strong lineup of civilian and military participants, this year’s show is expected to deliver a dynamic mix of precision flying, aerobatics and aircraft showcases.

Adding to the experience on the day, renowned airshow commentator Brian Emmenis from Capital Sounds and his team will provide live commentary, guiding spectators through the flying programme and offering expert insight into the aircraft, pilots and manoeuvres on display.

Aircraft on display will include the Bosbok, the iconic North American T-6 Harvard flown by the Flying Lions Aerobatic Team, the classic Aérospatiale Alouette III, the Agusta A109LUH operated by the South African Air Force as well as Working on Fire aircraft and helicopters among many others. These varied platforms will showcase everything from vintage aviation heritage to modern operational capability.

Spectators can expect thrilling demonstrations including formation flying, precision aerobatics, helicopter displays and low-level flypasts all performed by highly skilled pilots.

Beyond the flying programme, the airshow offers a vibrant ground experience. Food vendors, aviation exhibits and interactive displays ensure there is something for everyone making it an ideal outing for families and aviation fans of all ages. Children will also have the opportunity to get up close to aircraft on static display inspiring the next generation of pilots and engineers.

Airshow organisers have emphasised safety and smooth event operations encouraging attendees to arrive early to avoid congestion and to make the most of the day’s activities.

The Lowveld Airshow continues to play an important role in promoting aviation in South Africa highlighting both the skill of local pilots and the broader aviation industry.
