According to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks, the animal was spotted in the vicinity of the airport, prompting warnings for anyone working or travelling nearby to remain vigilant. People are urged to exercise extreme caution and avoid walking close to bush areas, as the leopard could pose a serious risk to life.
The Department, in collaboration with the Botswana Police, is actively monitoring the situation. Authorities have advised that any sightings or suspicious activity should be reported immediately to the nearest Wildlife office on 3960712/4 or to the police on 999.
Officials noted that the leopard’s presence may be linked to nearby bushland and stressed the importance of public cooperation to ensure safety while efforts to track the animal continue.
This unusual wildlife encounter at one of Botswana’s busiest transport hubs highlights the country’s delicate balance between modern infrastructure and its rich natural environment.
