ANAC Authorises Brazilian Production of Sling TSi

Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) has authorised TAF Brasil Ltda ME to manufacture the Sling TSi as a Special Light Sport Aircraft (ALE), marking a significant milestone for the country’s general aviation and light sport aircraft sectors.

With this approval TAF Brasil becomes the first Brazilian manufacturer to receive Special ALE recognition enabling the local production of the Sling TSi and expanding Brazil’s offering within the light sport aircraft category.

A key differentiator of the Sling TSi is its four-seat capability making it only the second Special Light Sport Aircraft in the world able to meet ALE consensual standards while offering this level of passenger capacity. This positions the aircraft as a practical solution that successfully balances performance safety and operational versatility within the LSA framework.

The recognition follows a comprehensive evaluation process conducted by ANAC including sample documentation verification technical visits to the manufacturing facility and detailed aircraft inspections. The process aimed to ensure that all required analyses and testing were conducted in accordance with internationally accepted consensual standards and that the manufacturer’s declaration is supported by sound technical evidence.

Approval of the Sling TSi under the Special ALE category was made possible following ANAC’s July 2022 amendment to ALE regulations which now permits aircraft with up to four seats and a maximum take-off weight of 1,361 kg to be certified using standards developed by ASTM International.

The revised regulatory framework aligns Brazil more closely with international aviation standards while significantly reducing the cost and complexity associated with traditional type certification processes without compromising acceptable levels of safety.

This development represents an important step forward for Sling Aircraft’s presence in Brazil and for the continued growth and accessibility of light sport aviation in the regio
