Airbus Helicopters continues to expand its footprint in the Nordic region with a new order for 10 Airbus H125s placed by Østnes Helicopters, the manufacturer’s official distributor in the region. Announced at this year’s European Rotors, the deal adds to the four aircraft already booked earlier in 2025 and brings Østnes’ total H125 orders for the year to 14.
For Østnes Helicopters, the purchase reflects sustained and growing demand for a platform that has become the backbone of Nordic utility and commercial helicopter operations.
“Our customers require a rotorcraft that is not just reliable but truly versatile, capable of performing everything from long-line utility work to passenger transport. The H125 delivers on all fronts and we see continuous strong demand for the helicopter in the Nordic market. This strategic procurement ensures we can maintain short delivery times and offer our customers the best availability for the world’s most successful single-engine helicopter,” said Stine Østnes, Chief Sales Officer of Østnes Helicopters.
Airbus says the continued appetite for the H125 is a sign of the aircraft’s enduring relevance in environments that demand high performance in harsh conditions.
“The unwavering demand for the H125 in the Nordics is a clear testament to its unmatched versatility and performance,” said Thomas Hein, Head of Europe Region at Airbus Helicopters. “The H125 is engineered to excel in the most demanding conditions and this total of 14 orders in 2025 affirms its position as the preferred tool for customers across the Nordic countries. We are proud to continue this journey of growth and partnership with Østnes Helicopters.”
Østnes Helicopters remains a major force in the region’s rotorcraft market, having facilitated the sale of more than 400 helicopters across both the new and pre-owned markets. Its maintenance organisation is approved to deliver full Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul services for the H120, H125 and H130, with additional dedicated support for the H145 through a specialised team of certified technicians and avionics experts.
Today more than 130 H125s operate in the Nordic countries, primarily tasked with utility and aerial work missions that range from powerline inspection to sling operations and passenger transport in remote terrain. Worldwide, more than 4,300 helicopters of the H125 family are in service, cementing the Ecureuil line as the benchmark in the intermediate single-engine class. The type held a dominant 73% share of this market in 2024, underscoring its status as the reference aircraft for rugged, high-altitude and multi-role operations.
