Vietnam Helicopter Corporation Expands Offshore Capability with Airbus H225 Order

Vietnam Helicopter Corporation (VNH) has strengthened its offshore aviation capability with an order for three Airbus H225 helicopters. Operated by its subsidiaries, Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company (VNH South) and Northern Vietnam Helicopter Company (VNH North), the aircraft will support expanding offshore energy operations and gradually replace ageing assets. The announcement was made on 7 April 2026, reflecting VNH’s focus on fleet modernisation and operational growth.

The order reinforces a partnership with Airbus Helicopters that has lasted over 40 years and highlights VNH’s strategy to enhance reliability, capacity and mission flexibility.

“The H225 has proven itself across our offshore missions, delivering the reliability, performance and safety we expect. It will form the backbone of our future fleet, allowing us to modernise operations while expanding capability,” said Kieu Dang Hung, CEO of VNH.

The Airbus H225, the latest evolution of the Super Puma family, is recognised for its long range, heavy payload capacity and advanced avionics. These features reduce pilot workload and improve safety in offshore operations, where crews face limited landing zones and unpredictable weather.

Matthieu Louvot, CEO of Airbus Helicopters, added: “We are honoured to continue supporting VNH as they strengthen and revitalise their fleet. Their decision to centre operations around the H225 underscores its reliability and performance in demanding environments.”

The new helicopters will join VNH’s existing Super Puma and H155 fleet for offshore transport, utility missions, search and rescue and broader operations. Globally, over 360 H225s and H225Ms are in service, logging more than one million flight hours. Military operators include Brazil, France, Hungary, Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore and Thailand.

For VNH, this order represents more than a fleet upgrade; it signals a commitment to operational excellence and long-term growth in Vietnam’s expanding offshore sector. With the H225 at the centre of its operations, VNH is well-positioned to meet current and future challenges while maintaining its status as a leading regional helicopter operator.
