Textron Aviation has announced a major cockpit modernization option for Cessna Citation CJ1 operators, introducing an all-Garmin retrofit solution following Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) supplemental type certification (STC). The upgrade is available through Textron Aviation’s global service network and offers a significant leap in technology for legacy CJ1 jets.

The retrofit package centers around Garmin’s advanced avionics suite, including the new 12-inch G600 TXi flight display, TXi Engine Indication System (EIS), GTN™ 750Xi GPS/NAV/COMM, and the highly regarded GFC™ 600 digital autopilot. Together, these upgrades deliver enhanced operational capability and improved situational awareness for pilots. Key safety features such as Stabilized Approach monitoring and aural V-speed alerts during takeoff provide an additional layer of flight assurance.
For operators seeking even more capability, optional enhancements are available, including Garmin’s GWX™ 8000 StormOptix™ weather radar and the GDL® 60 datalink, which enables PlaneSync™ connected aircraft management features such as wireless flight plan transfer and remote aircraft status monitoring.
“At Textron Aviation, we’re committed to enhancing customers’ aircraft no matter where it is in its lifecycle,” said Brian Rohloff, senior vice president, Customer Support at Textron Aviation. “Offering the all-Garmin retrofit solution for the Cessna Citation CJ1 delivers on that commitment. The upgrade enhances the in-flight experience, offering the latest technology available today to support pilots as missions and technology evolve.”
The Citation CJ1, first certified in 2000, remains a popular light jet among operators worldwide, with seating for up to eight occupants and a range of 1,266 nautical miles. Textron Aviation produced nearly 200 CJ1 aircraft between 2000 and 2005, many of which are still in service today.
As the original equipment manufacturer, Textron Aviation ensures the avionics upgrade is fully OEM-certified, preserving system integrity and certification standards. Installations can be performed at any of Textron Aviation’s authorized service facilities globally, providing CJ1 owners a streamlined path to bring their aircraft up to modern standards without compromising safety or compliance. With this upgrade, Textron Aviation not only extends the life and value of the Citation CJ1 but also delivers a cockpit experience on par with today’s newest light jets, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and customer support.
