Revealed ahead of EAA AirVenture 2025, the Seminole DX features the powerful new DeltaHawk DHK4A180 engine—an FAA-certified, 180-hp, turbocharged diesel engine that runs on Jet A and Jet A-1 fuels. Compared to traditional avgas engines, this next-gen powerhouse delivers:
- Up to 40% better fuel economy
- 35% lower fuel burn
- 32% increase in single-engine climb rate
- 70% higher single-engine absolute ceiling
“We heard the market loud and clear—the need for a sustainable, cost-efficient, heavy fuel multi-engine trainer is real. The Seminole DX delivers on that promise,” said Piper President & CEO John Calcagno.
Built for performance and planet, the aircraft supports Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and comes equipped with a modern liquid-cooled climate control system—ideal for training operations in diverse global environments.
The Seminole DX is the product of a landmark 20-year supply agreement between Piper and DeltaHawk Engines, which positions DeltaHawk as the exclusive heavy-fuel engine provider for the entire Seminole fleet. Both companies are now exploring expansion into other platforms like the PA-28 Archer and PA-46 M-Class.
📆 Certification flights begin November 2025, with FAA sign-off expected in Q3 2026 and first deliveries slated for early 2027.
📍 Position reservations open at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2025 (July 21–27) and global interest is already surging, especially among flight training institutions.
The Seminole DX isn’t just an upgrade. It’s a bold reimagining of what a modern training aircraft should be—efficient, powerful, and future-ready.
