South African domestic and regional carrier CemAir and Spanish airline Air Europa have announced the signing of a unilateral interline agreement, effective 9 June 2026. The partnership marks a significant milestone in expanding travel connectivity between Southern Africa and major international markets.
The new agreement enables passengers traveling on Air Europa to connect seamlessly onto CemAir’s domestic and regional route network via South Africa. Under a single itinerary, travelers will benefit from a streamlined baggage handling process and smoother access to destinations beyond South Africa’s primary metropolitan hubs. Concurrently, the partnership enhances options for Southern African travelers looking to access Air Europa’s extensive network across Europe and the Americas via its central hub in Madrid.
“We are delighted to welcome Air Europa as our newest interline partner,” said Shaniel Singh, Chief Commercial Officer at CemAir. “This agreement further strengthens CemAir’s international connectivity and creates additional travel opportunities for our customers. By combining Air Europa’s global reach with CemAir’s extensive Southern African network, we are able to offer travellers a more seamless and convenient journey while supporting tourism and business travel throughout the region.”
Estelle Leray, Alliances & CX Director for Air Europa, expressed similar enthusiasm, noting that the agreement allows their passengers to efficiently travel beyond Johannesburg to new destinations across Southern Africa while strengthening Air Europa’s regional presence alongside a well-established partner.
The alliance aligns with CemAir’s long-term strategy to scale its global network through collaborative partnerships with leading international airlines. Ticket bookings under the newly established interline agreement are officially available starting 23 June 2026.
