AerCap Signs Lease Agreements with FlySafair for Five Boeing 737 Aircraft

AerCap Holdings has announced a major fleet expansion deal with South African low-cost carrier FlySafair confirming lease agreements for three new Boeing 737 MAX 8s and two Boeing 737-800NGs. The announcement was made at the Dubai Airshow 2025. The 737 MAX 8 aircraft are scheduled for delivery from the first quarter of 2028 while the 737-800NGs are expected to arrive from the third quarter of 2026.

Peter Anderson, AerCap’s Chief Commercial Officer said the company was pleased to welcome FlySafair as a new customer and support its fleet modernisation strategy. He noted that AerCap appreciated the partnership and wished the airline success as it works to meet growing passenger demand.

FlySafair Chief Marketing Officer Kirby Gordon highlighted the significance of the agreement describing it as an important step in the airline’s fleet development. He added that the introduction of the 737 MAX into FlySafair’s operations reflects a commitment to improved efficiency, sustainability and passenger experience.

Boeing’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Africa Anbessie Yitbarek said the addition of the three 737 MAX aircraft marks meaningful progress for FlySafair as it continues its growth trajectory. He emphasised that more than 80 airlines worldwide currently operate the 737 MAX and thanked AerCap for facilitating the partnership that will further strengthen FlySafair’s operational capabilities.
