The Package Freighter Conversion Kit is part of De Havilland Canada’s comprehensive portfolio of cargo conversion products. It provides a permanent reconfiguration of the Dash 8-400 from a passenger layout to a dedicated cargo platform, enabling operators to achieve greater operational efficiency and flexibility. This solution is particularly suited to regional carriers responding to high-yield cargo demands in diverse environments.

“We are proud to continue our collaboration with Advantage Air as they expand their cargo operations from their home base at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, Kenya,” said Ryan DeBrusk, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at De Havilland Canada. “Their decision to invest in our Package Freighter product highlights the value of our dedicated cargo solutions and the growing demand for reliable, rugged aircraft in regional markets.”

Advantage Air CEO Captain Mohammad Somow emphasized the strategic importance of this investment:
“Our investment in the Package Freighter Kit program marks an important milestone in our fleet strategy. These kits enhance our capacity to meet cargo demands with speed, reliability, and efficiency – leveraging the proven durability and performance of the Dash 8-400.”

The Package Freighter configuration transforms the Dash 8-400 into a full-time cargo aircraft, featuring nine distinct loading zones, eight radial spider nets for secure cargo restraint, and integrated smoke detection systems. A cargo loading system is also available to support palletized freight, offering operators flexibility in handling various cargo types.

Renowned for its exceptional short takeoff and landing (STOL) performance, high dispatch reliability, and cost-effective operations, the Dash 8-400 in freighter configuration provides regional carriers with a competitive edge in the evolving cargo market.
