Zimbabwean start-up FlyCristal secures aircraft to begin operations

Zimbabwean start-up FlyCristal Airways has secured its first aircraft to begin operational services marking a significant milestone in its growth strategy. The carrier has acquired a 19-seater Let 410 from Malawi’s Zebu Air which will form the backbone of its initial domestic network.

The aircraft will be deployed on key routes from Harare International Airport to Bulawayo Mutare Kariba and Victoria Falls. These services are aimed at supporting business travel and improving regional connectivity within Zimbabwe while laying the foundation for broader Southern African operations.

FlyCristal Airways has already arranged access to additional aircraft as part of its planned fleet expansion. The airline intends to scale capacity in line with demand growth and regional market opportunities particularly within the business travel sector.

In a further development FlyCristal has secured designation approvals to operate scheduled passenger and cargo services between Zimbabwe and South Africa marking a major step forward in its regional ambitions. The airline is currently progressing with regulatory applications including a foreign operator’s permit from the South African Civil Aviation Authority while simultaneously preparing its application for a Zimbabwean Air Operator’s Certificate through the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe.

FlyCristal Airways (Pty) Ltd trading as FlyCristal Airways is a private limited liability company incorporated in accordance with the corporate laws of South Africa and Zimbabwe under the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission of Zimbabwe (CIPZ). Since 2019 FlyCristal has been operating as a licensed air carrier providing air transportation services and related ancillary services. The company’s operations are regulated approved and subject to regular audits by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ).
