The world’s safest airlines for 2022

AirlineRatings.com, the world’s only airline safety, and product rating website, has announced its “TOP TWENTY SAFEST AIRLINES 2022” from the 385 different airlines it monitors.

AirlineRatings.com has revealed its annual ranking of the safest airlines based on different factors, including an airline’s crash record, fleet age and Covid-19 safety protocols.

Qantas lost the top spot on the website’s list due to a near collision on an airport runway in Perth in 2018 (the report into the incident has only been released recently).

To earn the top spot in the list of nearly 400 airlines, Air New Zealand has operated in some of the most challenging weather conditions and remote environments, the airline ratings website said. The national carrier also excels at technical innovation and has one of the youngest aircraft fleets with an average age of 6.8 years. It was the first airline in the world to require domestic passengers to be vaccinated against Covid-19 or provide a negative test before boarding.

According to AirlineRatings.com Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas:

“Air New Zealand has won countless awards and has a firm focus on safety and its customers and over the past 18 months, COVID-19 has brought yet another new dimension to the challenges.

“Air New Zealand has excelled across the broad safety spectrum never losing sight of the smallest detail while caring for its flight crews who have worked under significant stress.”

“Air New Zealand is a stand-out airline with a firm focus on safety and its customers over the past 18 months,” Geoffrey Thomas said.
