The World’s First PC-12 PRO Aeromedical Aircraft Joins the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia

Serial number 3010 has touched down in Australia, marking the arrival of the world’s first Pilatus PC-12 PRO in aeromedical configuration. This aircraft is the first of five new PC-12 PROs destined for the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) Central Operations, reflecting a partnership that has spanned over 30 years. It is fitting that Pilatus’ longest-standing aeromedical partner receives this milestone aircraft, which will further enhance the delivery of critical medical services across some of the country’s most remote regions.

The new PC-12 PROs will become a vital part of RFDS Central Operations’ fleet, flying regularly through South Australia and the Northern Territory to provide world-leading medical care where it is needed most. The aircraft’s spacious pressurized cabin of over nine cubic meters allows for comfortable accommodation of patients, medical crews, and sophisticated life-saving equipment. A large cargo door and lift system enable rapid and efficient patient loading, a feature crucial for emergency medical response.

“The PC-12 has an outstanding safety record and a proven history of reliability operating in the diverse and challenging environments where we deliver services, from southern Australia to the tropics in the Top End. It will strengthen our fleet reliability and our ability to respond quickly, safely and efficiently,” said Tony Vaughan ASM, Chief Executive of RFDS SA/NT.

Pilatus is proud to support RFDS with the introduction of the PC-12 PRO, which builds on the proven legacy of the PC-12 family. This latest model brings enhanced performance, advanced avionics, and increased operational capability, ensuring RFDS crews can continue to reach the furthest corners of Australia with the finest care.

“Supporting our long-term partner RFDS as they expand their air ambulance fleet with the latest PC-12 PRO reflects not only the strength of our enduring relationship but also a shared commitment to delivering life-saving services to communities across Australia,” said André Zimmermann, VP Business Aviation at Pilatus Aircraft Ltd.

The PC-12 PRO is progressive, proven, and professional. It features the purpose-built Garmin 3000 avionics system and the innovative Safety Autoland System while retaining the defining characteristics that have made the PC-12 a trusted aeromedical platform, such as short and unpaved runway capabilities and a large cargo door. With over 2,200 PC-12s delivered worldwide and more than twelve million flight hours logged, the PC-12 PRO continues a legacy of safety, reliability, and state-of-the-art technology, making it an ideal choice for aeromedical missions.

With the arrival of the first PC-12 PRO, the Royal Flying Doctor Service is ready to continue its mission of providing rapid, high-quality care to Australians in even the most isolated areas, ensuring that no community is out of reach when critical medical help is needed.
