Textron Aviation brings Starlink high-speed internet to Cessna Citation sovereign jets

In a significant connectivity upgrade for business jet operators, Textron Aviation has announced the availability of Starlink high-speed internet for its popular Cessna Citation Sovereign and Sovereign+ aircraft. The enhancement follows the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval of AeroMech’s Supplemental Type Certificate (STC), marking a major step forward in delivering reliable, global in-flight connectivity.

The move responds directly to customer demand for superior inflight internet performance, especially during long-range and overwater missions where traditional Wi-Fi services often underperform.

“We invest in product upgrades based on customer feedback, and they have been asking for the best in-flight connectivity options available in aviation today,” said Brian Rohloff, Senior Vice President of Customer Support at Textron Aviation. “Offering Starlink for the Citation Sovereign series adds another premium option for owners looking to enhance their aircraft.”

What Starlink Brings to the Flight Deck

Utilising Starlink’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network, the AeroMech STC ensures fast, consistent internet connectivity across diverse operating environments — from remote wilderness to transoceanic crossings. The Starlink Aviation Kit includes a compact Aero Terminal antenna, a dedicated power supply unit, two wireless access points to ensure cabin-wide coverage, and all necessary aircraft-specific harnessing. Impressively, the system integrates seamlessly into the aircraft, requiring only standard power input without complex modifications.

Flexible Installation Options

The upgrade is available through Textron Aviation’s North American Service Centers and select International Service Centers, offering convenience and factory-backed expertise for Citation owners worldwide.

With business aviation passengers increasingly expecting home-like connectivity speeds at 40,000 feet, the introduction of Starlink aligns with a growing market trend of adopting next-generation satellite broadband solutions in private jets.

Textron Aviation’s announcement follows earlier Starlink integrations on other Citation models and highlights the industry’s accelerating push toward inflight connectivity that rivals ground-based broadband performance.

For Sovereign and Sovereign+ operators, the Starlink option promises to elevate the inflight experience, enabling everything from video conferencing and VPN use to streaming entertainment — no matter where the mission leads.
