TL Sport Unveils Sirius BackCountry: Luxury Meets Off-Grid Performance

TL Sport Aircraft has launched the Sirius BackCountry, a rugged new taildragger that merges serious STOL (short takeoff and landing) performance with luxury and versatility—unveiled at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2025.

By Jarryd Sinovich

Built for adventure, the Sirius BackCountry boasts:

  • Takeoff runs under 200 feet
  • Landings in as little as 100 feet
  • Climb rates up to 2,200 ft/min
  • Cruise speed of 156 mph
  • Service ceiling of 21,500 feet

Crafted from carbon fiber and Kevlar, and equipped with Alaskan Bushwheel Airstreaks and Acme Aero Stinger tailwheel, it’s built to thrive on sandbars, grass strips, and remote bush terrain.

Yet, inside, it’s all comfort: heated leather seats, a 45-inch cabin, Garmin avionics, and cargo space for an e-bike.

“This aircraft reflects 35 years of design excellence,” said TL Sport Aircraft President Trey Murdaugh. “It’s rugged, refined, and ready for backcountry missions or recreational travel.”

With engine options ranging from Rotax 912 to Turbotech turboprop, multiple propeller pairings, and an optional ballistic parachute, the Sirius BackCountry is not just MOSAIC-ready—it’s redefining light sport aviation for the backcountry generation.
