SAA and CemAir Announce Landmark Domestic Codeshare Partnership

South African Airways (SAA) and CemAir have announced a landmark domestic codeshare partnership set to redefine air travel within South Africa. The collaboration strengthens connectivity between major metropolitan centres and niche regional and leisure destinations not previously served by SAA’s network.

Unlike SAA’s existing codeshare agreements, which primarily focus on regional and international routes, this partnership is exclusively domestic. It is designed to enhance accessibility and convenience for travellers across South Africa by combining the strengths of both airlines. Under the agreement, SAA and CemAir will place their respective airline codes on selected flights, allowing customers to book integrated itineraries via official websites, mobile applications and authorised travel agents.

Passengers will benefit from seamless connections, single-ticket itineraries and through-checked baggage, all supported by aligned service standards between the two carriers.

Privately owned and operating since 2005, CemAir provides scheduled services to a range of major cities and regional destinations including Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, George, East London, Gqeberha, Margate, Kimberley, Hoedspruit and Mala Mala. Operating a fleet of regional jets and turboprops, the airline plays a critical role in connecting business and leisure travellers, complementing SAA’s network while expanding access to South Africa’s diverse regions.

The partnership enhances domestic connectivity by expanding access to unique leisure and business destinations, supporting tourism growth and improving travel convenience through single-ticket itineraries, smooth connections and integrated baggage handling. Customers will also benefit from integrated booking across both airlines’ platforms.

Ticket sales for codeshare flights open on 26 January 2026. Customers will be able to book through SAA and CemAir’s official channels including websites, mobile applications and authorised travel agents.
