Pipistrel Debuts Next-Generation Voyager Trainer at EAA AirVenture 2026

Pipistrel, a Textron Inc. company, has unveiled the Pipistrel Voyager, a purpose-built training aircraft designed to expand flight school operational capabilities while maintaining high fleet efficiency. Debuting at EAA AirVenture 2026, the two-seat aircraft is engineered to align with anticipated Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC) regulations, positioning it to support broader flight instruction missions from primary training to advanced instrument work. Entry into service is projected for 2027 with a base price of €240,000.

The aircraft is positioned as an accessible, high-utilization platform intended to complement established trainers like the Cessna Skyhawk. Key features of the Voyager include full Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) training capability, intentional spin certification for advanced aerobatic and upset recovery instruction, an integral ballistic recovery parachute and a 2026 baseline unit cost designed to lower entry barriers for operators.

Powered by a Rotax 912 ULS engine, the platform offers a maximum take-off weight of 1,389 lbs, a useful load of 552 lbs and a maximum operating range of 740 nautical miles including IFR reserves. Pipistrel Sales Vice President Chris Crow highlighted that the platform is engineered as a training workhorse, offering owner-operators and flight academies a modern, capable aircraft at low hourly operating costs.

Inside the flight deck, the Voyager is equipped with the new Garmin AXIS flight display system, featuring a single-lever throttle control interface, touchscreen and tactile controls, a haptic stall warning system and a three-axis autopilot with electronic stability protection. Textron Aviation leadership emphasized that the aircraft’s performance-based design leverages MOSAIC frameworks to accelerate technological innovation and offer greater fleet flexibility across the global pilot training sector.
