Ethanol-powered Ipanema 203 to be showcased, highlighting operational safety and sustainability

Embraer will take part in the Brazilian Agricultural Aviation Congress, scheduled for August 19–21 in Santo Antônio do Leverger (MT), under the theme “A Look to the Future.” The company will exhibit the Ipanema 203, the top-selling cropduster in the Brazilian agricultural aviation market, with over 20 years of operation powered entirely by ethanol.

Combining technology with robustness, the Ipanema 203 delivers high productivity with precision while maintaining low operational costs. With approximately 60% share of the agricultural aviation market, the aircraft is a pioneer in biofuel use and a sales leader in its category.

“The Brazilian Agricultural Aviation Congress, promoted by the National Union of Agricultural Aviation Companies (SINDAG), is a great opportunity for us to showcase new trends in the sector,” said Sany Onofre, Embraer’s Agricultural Aviation leader. “Producers are increasingly seeking solutions that deliver productivity, reduce costs and ensure operational safety.”

Over the past three years more than 180 Ipanema 203 units have been sold, reaffirming its position as the aircraft of choice among operators. Equipped with precision agriculture systems, it can spray more than 200 hectares per hour — the equivalent of four large ground sprayers working simultaneously — without compacting the soil or spreading pests. In practice, this can result in yield gains of up to 15 bags per hectare.

Alongside showcasing the Ipanema 203, Embraer will continue its focus on promoting operational safety. The company has developed an extensive programme that addresses preventive inspections, safe working environments and best practices for pilots, mechanics and operators. Currently, every agricultural pilot training class in Brazil includes a lecture from Embraer’s Ipanema support team, ensuring that safety culture is embedded from the beginning of a pilot’s career.
