The Aero Club of South Africa has arranged to host their 2023 Aero Club Airweek at Middleburg, from 3-5 March 2023
The Aero Club of South Africa pro-actively promotes, protects and preserves all forms of aviation sport and recreational in South Africa.
The Aero Club of South Africa core objective is:
- Protect and Preserve
- Administer
- Promote and Grow sport and recreation aviation

Middelburg airfield was initially located in Aerorand, Middelburg, and then relocated to the present location in 1981. It is here that the “Middelburg Vliegklub” was established in 1983. In 1986 the club changed to the Middelburg Gliding Club, which still exists to this day.
In 1990, the Middelburg Aerodrome Controlling Body was formed and the dedicated members then formed the Middelburg Aero Club (MAC) in June 2002.

In 1985, the first Middelburg Airshow was held, with unfortunately the next airshow only taking place in 2009. This airshow was rated as one of the top five best airshows in South Africa. Keeping up the momentum, the 2010 Middelburg Air Show was rated the second best airshow in South Africa. This trend of putting up a damn good show continued when the 2016 Middelburg Airshow was rated as the fourth best airshow in South Africa and attracted almost 12,000 people.
