Textron Aviation has achieved a significant milestone with the first military order for its Cessna SkyCourier, signalling the aircraft’s formal entry into the global defence aviation market. The selection by Belgium for its Special Operations Forces represents both a validation of the platform’s capabilities and a broader shift toward cost-effective, multirole airlift solutions.

Under the agreement, Belgium will acquire five SkyCourier aircraft configured for a wide range of missions including troop transport, logistics support, casualty evacuation and crisis response. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in 2027 with aircraft handed over to Sabena Engineering, which will act as the prime contractor. Sabena Engineering will be responsible for integrating mission-specific systems and completing certification work within Belgium before final delivery to the nation’s Special Operations Forces.
