FlySafair Adds Apple Pay and Google Pay for Faster, One-Tap Flight Bookings

FlySafair has introduced one-tap payment options in its mobile app, enabling passengers to pay for flights securely and instantly using Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Powered by South African payments infrastructure company Stitch, the new system removes the need to manually enter card details, allowing customers to complete their booking in seconds with payment information already stored on their devices.

“Travellers increasingly expect booking to be quick and seamless,” says Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer at FlySafair. “Adding Apple Pay and Google Pay allows customers to complete their purchase in seconds using secure payment methods they already know and trust.”

The new options are currently available in the FlySafair mobile app with a rollout on the airline’s website planned for the future. Kiaan Pillay, CEO and Co-founder of Stitch, adds: “The FlySafair team continues to deliver more innovative and enjoyable travel experiences for South Africans. We’re excited to make flight booking even easier.”

Enhancing the Travel Experience Through Technology

This latest update complements FlySafair’s suite of digital tools designed to give passengers more control and flexibility before they even arrive at the airport. Key features include:

  • WhatsApp Pay – Quickly pay for additional baggage at the airport reducing queues.
  • Track My Plane – Follow the movement of assigned aircraft in near real-time.
  • AI Lindi – FlySafair’s AI-powered assistant available 24/7 on WhatsApp for bookings, changes, cancellations and general travel queries.
  • Online Check-In – Complete check-in from home up to 24 hours before departure.
  • Manage My Booking – Change flights, add baggage or update booking details via the app or website.
  • Real-Time Flight Updates – Receive notifications for delays or schedule changes.
  • Self-Service Add-Ons – Reserve seats or add sports equipment and luggage online.

“Travel should feel straightforward from the moment you book,” Gordon says. “Our digital tools are designed to remove unnecessary steps and give passengers greater flexibility and control over their trip.”

Passengers can download the FlySafair mobile app or book flights online at www.flysafair.co.za.
