Cape Town International Airport Hits One Million Passengers Ahead of Peak Season

Cape Town International Airport has achieved a major milestone by surpassing one million passengers in October 2025, a level typically seen only during the busy December holiday period. This early surge signals a strong start to the peak travel season and highlights the resilience of South Africa’s aviation and tourism sectors.

Thabo Phateng, Acting Regional General Manager at Cape Town International Airport, Cluster 2, expressed his satisfaction with the achievement, noting the trust travellers place in ACSA’s airports and the dedication of the operational teams. “As the festive season approaches, our focus remains on delivering efficient, safe and welcoming airport services,” Phateng said.

This milestone reflects ACSA’s ongoing investments in infrastructure, technology and service quality. The seamless handling of increased passenger volumes is made possible through strong collaboration with airlines, ground handlers, Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) and other airport partners.

ACSA extended its gratitude to passengers and partners for their cooperation as the airport manages high traffic volumes with its current facilities. Even at full capacity during peak periods, teams are committed to maintaining a safe, efficient and positive travel experience.

As peak season unfolds, Cape Town International Airport continues to work closely with airline partners, border authorities and service providers to ensure that travellers enjoy the highest standards of safety, comfort and hospitality.

This achievement underscores Cape Town International Airport’s role as a key gateway to South Africa and a testament to the strength and growth of the country’s aviation industry.
