The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute (RRPFI) has taken delivery of a brand-new Robinson R22 helicopter courtesy of Robinson Helicopter Company (RHC) as a central feature for its upcoming exhibition “Cowboys: History & Hollywood.” The exhibition will open on October 18, 2025 and run through April 19, 2026 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California.

From Horseback to Helicopters

The exhibition explores the evolution of the American cowboy from traditional horseback riders to the modern aerial ranchers of today. At the center of this story is the Robinson R22, a two-seat light utility helicopter renowned for its reliability, efficiency and accessibility. Since its introduction, the R22 has transformed ranching and agriculture by enabling aerial livestock management often in rugged and remote environments where horses once reigned supreme.

The 10,000-square-foot exhibition at the Reagan Library blends authentic cowboy history with Hollywood mythmaking. The addition of the R22 adds a technological dimension to the narrative, illustrating how innovation continues to redefine the cowboy tradition.
