State of general aviation in SA

General aviation in South Africa faces a dichotomy of high growth and success in certain sectors and limited growth with underlying threats in others, as was revealed in the panel discussion at the GenAv Conference at NAC, Lanseria.

Internationally recognised pilot training, a buoyant light sport and fun flyer segment, recovery in the  charter market and exceptionally high AMO standards are contrasted with limited economies of scale, an unrealistic exchange rate and low margins in GA businesses.
